Behind every bit of Cabin Fairy magic, there’s a steady hand, and that’s Jim Barrett, our Chief Operating Officer and resident “Cabin Whisperer.”

A retired U.S. Army veteran and lifelong problem-solver, Jim brings structure, dependability, and craftsmanship to every project. From maintenance and renovations to logistics and guest experience, Jim ensures that every cabin not only looks amazing. but functions flawlessly.

His favorite motto?

“There’s no problem too small for a little grit and a good wrench.” 🛠️

Together, Eve and Jim make the perfect mountain dream team pairing vision and precision, design and dependability, magic and mechanics.

The Journey So Far

• Court Reporting Rockstar: Before real estate, Eve spent 18 years as a court reporter in Tampa, Florida, specializing in civil litigation. She developed two mobile apps and had a successful exit, proving she’s as tech-savvy as she is creative.

• Army Veterans: Both Eve and Jim proudly served in the U.S. Army. During her five years of service, Eve deployed to four continents and met Jim, her now-husband and retired veteran.

• Fitness Frenzy: In her 40s, Eve became a marathon-running, triathlon-competing, Ironman-finishing machine.

• Proud Parents: Their son and daughter are both U.S. Army officers. Eve and Jim couldn’t be prouder.

The Magic Happens

In 2017, the Barrett family purchased a vacation home in Maggie Valley, North Carolina, and everything changed.

Eve fell in love with the mountains, wildlife, and warm community spirit of the Valley. That spark inspired her to build The Cabin Fairy™, a business dedicated to helping other homeowners experience the same joy and success through mindful property management and beautiful design.
